Story

As part of the two-year partnership, North Riding FA will work with the BHF to promote cardiac health across Teesside and North Yorkshire and surrounding areas, as well as raising funds to help pay for lifesaving research into heart and circulatory conditions.

North Riding FA has been working alongside BHF to promote the RevivR CPR training course to participants involved in grassroots football for the past two years. Formalising this relationship with BHF, by adopting them as our Official Charity Partner for the next two seasons, allows us to promote their wider work, as well as providing us with an opportunity to raise funds to support the research carried out by the charity.

We aim to mobilise the grassroots football community across Teesside and North Yorkshire to support us in our fundraising efforts. From past experience, we know that we can rely upon the kindness and generosity of those involved in the game, be that as a player, coach, referee, parent, spectator or league / club volunteer, to help us in reaching our fundraising target over the next couple of years.

Staff at North Riding FA will be undertaking a variety of events and challenges, including sponsored runs and walks, and we will be raising funds by holding various fundraising activities such as football tournaments, encouraging donations, and inviting any club, league, or volunteer to hold their own BHF fundraising events across the region. The partnership will very much hold the grassroots football community at the heart of it.

Footballers and supporters across the region will continue to be encouraged to learn CPR using BHF’s innovative tool RevivR, which teaches the lifesaving skill in just 15 minutes via a mobile phone app. RevivR teaches you how to recognise a cardiac arrest, gives feedback on chest compressions and outlines the correct steps of defibrillator use, giving anyone the confidence to step in and save a life in the event of the ultimate medical emergency.  North Riding FA will also work with grassroots clubs to spread healthy heart messages and encourage the installation of defibrillators.

The money raised by North Riding FA will help the BHF fund vital research into heart and circulatory conditions like heart attacks, stroke and vascular dementia, and the risk factors that can cause them, such as diabetes and high blood pressure.
